Requirements

A communal office space in a major town centre requires a extensive, energy-saving transformation to improve their environmental impact and enhance their co-working space. The project included a full refurbishment of their 2nd floor office with energy efficient LED lighting and self test emergency

luminaires.

The client was eager to improve their carbon footprint to enable a refresh and restructure of their property portfolio.

Benefits

GCL were able to deliver a fully refurbished office with efficiency and tranquillity being the key attraction. Through the installation of new lighting fixtures, the open plan space is well lit and utilises daylight harvesting which allows for around 70% energy saving (around £5,000.00 pa) (around 19 Tons of CO2) from the new lighting system.

The client also benefitted from:

  • Fast installation even under a tight timescale
  • A Self Test Emergency lighting system that will warn the
  • facilities team if there are any issues

Solutions

GCL installed a new lighting control system with intelligent Lighting Control Modules and PIRs which will significantly lower the property's energy usage. LED low glare (UGR less than 19) luminaires, feature lighting and RCD small power to all desks and areas were also introduced to make the co-working space as comfortable and effective to work in as possible.

As part of the goal to elevate the co-working aspect, a new kitchen and breakout areas were upgraded to invite more collaborative working, with the addition of office wide Wi-Fi also. GCL also installed a room booking system to ensure easy

access to those who want to utilise the space.

By working with the main contractor, client, lighting designers and manufacturers, a detailed design process was undertaken through various meetings and site visits. Our main objective was to understand the clients vision to provide the correct solution.

"Working with GCL on this project was fantastic. They provided a solution for us which enabled us to meet our requirements within the workspace, but also mindful of energy and environmental impact. Thanks GCL for a very well delivered project”
