Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) Benefits 

As an approved ECA Contractor, GCL holds the additional benefits of covering bond and warranty, for added protection and peace of mind for our customers.

• ECA Bond – This indemnifies you against the additional costs of an alternative contractor having to complete a Member’s work, in the event of a Member becoming insolvent before completion. 
• ECA Warranty – This protects you if the electrical installation work fails to comply with the relevant standards. It will be rectified without additional cost to you, subject to ECA terms and conditions.  

The ECA recognises that the renewable sector uses different technologies to traditional electrical installations and has created a specific warranty scheme in partnership with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). This offers additional protection if you’re investing in green systems or services. 

GCL will provide an ECA Warranty Certificate when the project has been completed. 
 

Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)

The MCS certifies low-carbon products and installations used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources. From wind turbines to solar panels, biomass boilers to heat pumps, there are many different options to suit a variety of needs.

MCS is a standards organisation that creates and maintains standards, enabling the certification of products, installers and their installations.

There is an approved warranty scheme available from all ECA/MCS registered installers for renewable technologies; GCL is an active participant in this scheme.
 

The ECA/MCS Warranty covers:

• Workmanship to the required standards
• Deposit payment protection

Key features of the ECA/MCS Warranty:

Installations must meet the requirements of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code.
