Case Study – UK Data Centre

Modern data centre corridor with rows of server racks and high-efficiency cooling infrastructure.

Data centres employ a four-tier system to offer an easily understandable framework for categorising various infrastructure designs and the corresponding service levels offered to clients. To attain Tier III status, the UK Data Centre had to enhance its incoming electrical provisions to meet the stringent Tier III criteria concerning ‘uptime’ and mitigating the probability of power interruptions, ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted service for its customers.

University College London (UCL) is based in the heart of London and is one of the world’s leading universities, with a 36,000 strong student community and a history of achievement. UCL wanted to convert a former distribution warehouse for use by some 750 people, all of whom required Voice (VoIP) wired network and wireless connectivity, linked to other buildings on the university campus.
